The Colonial Chamber Series has presented four to five concerts annually, each season beginning in the fall and concluding in May at the Colonial Church of Edina. Under the artistic direction of Ellen Dinwiddie Smith and J. Christopher Marshall, musicians include Minnesota Orchestra artists and their Twin Cities colleagues in chamber concerts that are individually planned to include varying instrumentation and musicians. Choral works have included the Colonial Chorale and Chamber Singers conducted by Mark Stover and the Christ Presbyterian Chancel Choir directed by Heather Hood. The Chamber Series has premiered Five Hymn-Songs (in Jazz-Popular Style) by Charles Forsberg and has presented new arrangements for horn by Tim Takach, formerly of Cantus, as well as new jazz arrangements by Michael B. Nelson of  The Hornheads. Special guest artists have included Burt Hara, former principal clarinet of the Minnesota Orchestra, now of the LA Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra’s Music Director Osmo Vänskä as clarinet soloist, and Minnesota Orchestra’s Sommerfest Artistic Director Andrew Litton as pianist.

The Colonial Chamber Series is tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is governed by a 7-member Board of Directors. All contributions to the Series are tax deductible.

All concerts have been followed by a reception for audience and musicians.
